Dr. Maria Chetcuti Cauchi

Bio
Dr Maria Chetcuti Cauchi is a co-founding partner and co-Managing Partner, responsible for the Chetcuti Cauchi’s Property practice and its growing Philanthropy, Art & Cultural Property advisory offering. Since 2001, she has advised private clients, investors, developers and international groups on high-value acquisitions and disposals, commercial and residential leasing, property financing, and complex title and risk diligence. Her work increasingly sits at the intersection of property, cross-border wealth structuring, and legacy planning – including philanthropic asset-holding, collections governance, and cultural property issues with a European dimension
Experience
Dr Maria Chetcuti Cauchi leads mandates involving Maltese and Europe-facing property transactions, coordinating due diligence, negotiation, financing interfaces, and completion mechanics for time-sensitive closings. Her work includes structuring real estate ownership through special purpose vehicles, trusts and corporate entities to align asset protection, succession planning, and long-term stewardship objectives. She also advises on development agreements and mixed-use projects, and supports clients operating buy-to-let and income-producing portfolios where legal, regulatory and documentation discipline is essential.
In her Philanthropy Advisory, Art & Cultural Property work, she advises on governance and legal planning around long-term stewardship of high-value assets – including donations, collections planning, and the legal treatment of cultural property interests that often sit alongside broader private client objectives. Where brand value, provenance documentation, digital rights, or commercial exploitation intersects with an asset strategy, she draws on her intellectual property experience to ensure ownership, usage and protection frameworks remain robust.
