Maltese national broadcaster, Public Broadcasting Services (PBS) have signed a cooperation agreement with China Central Television (CCTV) to share content mutually. The companies have revealed that they will exchange programs related to news and current affairs.
This agreement includes the reciprocal right to receive, record and use for free the news programmes broadcast from identified satellite channels.
It also includes the transmission via satellite or FTP of television news programmes that have been transmitted or are about to be broadcast by the other party in accordance with the technical facilities of each; the provision of news feature programmes; the filming and production of news reports on agreed topics in international acoustic version, together with the texts of the reports in English.
This cooperation agreement will strengthen the bilateral relations and opportunities between Malta and China in the field of public broadcasting.
Chairman Tony Porthugese signed on behalf of PBS whilst Mr. Li Yi, Vice Director of China Central Television News Centre signed on behalf of CCTV.
