The iGaming, Payment Services and EMIs: Setting up in Malta seminar will focus on the key elements that Gaming Businesses should take into account when looking to set-up iGaming, Payment Services and Electronic Money business in Malta.

During the first session of the iGaming, Payment Services and EMIs: Setting up in Malta Seminar, Dr Silvana Zammit will focus on Malta’s iGaming ecosystem and will discuss the style and expectations of the regulator, substantive regulatory requirements, licence conditions, timeframes within which a licence may be obtained, as well as the availability of support service providers. An insight into the current EU regulatory developments and their implications on the Malta license will also be provided.


The second session of the iGaming, Payment Services and EMIs: Setting up in Malta Seminar, will consider the procedures and practicalities involved in the setting-up of payment services providers and e-money institutions in Malta. In particular, the session will focus on Malta's attractions as a European platform for businesses operating in this sector.

Dr. Charles Cassar

Dr. Charles Cassar leads the financial services regulatory team at Chetcuti Cauchi Advocates. Dr Cassar has advised clients from a variety of sectors of the financial industry including investment advisors, funds and their managers, insurance principals and intermediaries, banks and financial institutions. Dr. Charles Cassar is particularly interested in the intersection between technology and financial services, and has built a clientele which includes forex brokers, online payment institutions and virtual currency operators. Dr Cassar regularly delivers training sessions, career talks and seminars and has spoken at the University of Malta, Maastricht University and Society Education.

Dr. Silvana Zammit 

Silvana' s practice mainly focuses on assisting clients with business start-ups requiring a license for their operation. In fact, Silvana has in-depth experience in licensing processes, especially those relating to online gaming, banking and other credit institutions, insurance and investment services. Working closely with the regulatory authorities in Malta, Silvana provides tailor-made advice for the obtainment and maintenance of licenses referring to the specific operations of the client. On the attainment of a license, Silvana provides ongoing legal support to clients in making sure that all requirements relating to their licensed operations are adhered to. Managing the Property & Development department, Silvana also focuses on property deals and probate procedures, assuring that on any property deal; be it commercial, residential or otherwise, the necessary safeguards and protection of clients are undertaken. Silvana is also strongly involved in the Aviation and Employment & Labour Departments.
