Malta’s Foreign Minister Dr Tonio Borg and Palestinian Tourism Minister Khouloud Daibes met on the 28th July 2011 in Ramallah, in the presence of Palestinian Prime Minister Fayaad to sign a Double Taxation Agreement. Malta has agreed to provide heritage restoration training courses to Palestinian students.
 

Last May the Maltese and Palestinian Foreign Ministers signed a memorandum of understanding on increased business cooperation. The memorandum sets the stage for developing economic relations and cooperation in industry and investment promotion including customs and intellectual property. Malta’s is to give support to Palestine’s capacity to export towards the EU.
 

Following talks in 2008 between the Maltese and Palestinian Presidents, a Maltese diplomatic office was opened in Ramallah in the Palestinian West Bank. This highlighted Malta’s political will to strengthen relations between the two countries in the pursuit of the common objective of securing peace and security in the region.
