Double taxation treaties encourage trade relations between both Malta and Greece. Trade between both countries has not been significant in the past.

The major products and industries of the Greece include tourism, shipping, food and tobacco processing, textiles, chemicals, metal products, mining and petroleum products. Shipping is an area where Malta and Greece can strengthen trading ties. Malta is has an internationally renowned shipping registry which has no trading restrictions.
