The Convention between Malta and the Hellenic Republic for the avoidance of double taxation and the prevention of fiscal evasion with respect to taxes on income has been signed and came into force on the 30th of August 2008. Double taxation treaties encourage trade relations between both Malta and Greece. Trade between both countries has not been significant in the past.
The major products and industries of the Greece include tourism, shipping, food and tobacco processing, textiles, chemicals, metal products, mining and petroleum products. Shipping is an area where Malta and Greece can strengthen trading ties. Malta is has an internationally renowned shipping registry which has no trading restrictions.
