AGCO is the gaming regulator in Ontario, Canada and will be the responsible entity for establishing a regulatory framework under which the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation will be launching online gaming later on this year.
Malta and Ontario have entered into this deal with the aim of exchanging information on eligibility assessments of applicants as well as observance and regulatory assurance activities with regard to gaming.
The LGA and AGCO have also decided on potential joint, cooperative or collaborative inspections, investigations and enforcement activities. Both jurisdictions will contribute to the development of joint operational and technical standards for gaming, testing and certification of equipment and software.
The Maltese Authority said that issues such as acceptance of respective testing activities, employee exchange and twinning programs, non-duplication of requirements and controls and server location are all in the pipeline for future development.
This MoU is similar to the agreement between AGCO and the Alderney Gambling Control Commission which was signed earlier this year.
The MoU was signed by the CEO of the LGA, Mr. Reuben Portanier and the Registrar of the AGCO, Mr. Jean Major.
