As part of Malta’s strategy for strengthening of the pharmaceutical and life sciences industry, preparations are underway for the opening of the Bio Malta Campus, which, built close to the University of Malta and Malta’s main teaching hospital is aimed at providing researchers in Malta additional access of advanced research.

Complementing the Bio Malta Campus, Malta is investing in a Life Sciences Park in view of allowing companies and researchers in Malta to successfully market their products and services in the EU and Libyan market.

 

This was reaffirmed by Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi during a visit to a University of Malta’s Laboratory of Molecular Genetics.

 

Commenting during the visit, University of Malta Rector Juanito Camilleri, said that the University’s strategy is complementary to that of the country and research programmes are being designed to prepare the human resources for tomorrow’s vision.

 

This is reflecting in the increasing number of pharmaceutical companies setting up shop in Malta in view of having access to highly-skilled workforce whilst operating in a legal framework that secures their Intellectual Property Rights.
