Kordin Business Incubation Centre (KBIC) hosted the first ever edition of the Start-Up Festival. Organised by Malta Enterprise, with approximately 200 local and foreign participants, the main aim of the festival was to host a platform for budding start-ups and established scale-ups to meet and discuss the various challenges and opportunities which are being faced throughout their journey

KBIC also housed several interesting talks and workshops, with contributions from the Minister for Energy, Enterprise and Sustainable Development Dr Miriam Dalli, Former European Commissioner for the Environment, Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Dr Karmenu Vella, various experienced CEOs and emerging entrepreneurs.
Various relevant topics were discussed throughout the event, from fostering financial sustainability, the blue economy, building a drone ecosystem, growing a unicorn startup and sustainability amongst others. The participants also got to hear the success story of a number of Maltese and foreign start-ups who have managed to navigate through the first difficult years of their business.
Malta for Start-Ups: approved projects in 2021
In the last 22 months, Malta Enterprise has approved more than 50 start-up projects. The projects approved in the first ten months of the year 2021 have generated over 400 new workspaces with a total investment of a staggering 12 million Euro. Assistance given to start-ups in Malta can take various forms.
Grants Available for Start-ups in Malta
Grants of up to Eur 200,000 are available for eligible entrepreneurs, or up to Eur 800,000 in repayable advances for truly innovate companies. Together with the financial incentives Malta has to offer, Malta has several significant advantages for start-ups or scale-ups.
