In reply to a parliamentary question by MP Claudio Grech, Home Affairs Minister Carmelo Abela said today that as at today Maltese Citizenship by Investment Applicants amount to 573, through the Malta government Individual Investor Programme which was launched earlier in 2014.

Minster Abela was also specified the Malta Citizenship by Investment Applicants' regions which are as follows: 56% from Russia and other countries which were part of the Soviet Union, while nearly 19% from Middle Eastern countries and 13% hailed from other Asian countries. 7% of applicants are from Africa, slightly more than 3% from North America, around 1% from EU/EFTA countries and slightly less from South America. Mr Abela said that 81 of these 573 Malta Citizenship by Investment Applicants already have more than one nationality.
