Gilbert Bonnici
Summary
A certified public accountant and auditor by profession, Gilbert hails from one of the Big Four accountancy practices in Malta, and with an extensive experience abroad.
Gilbert is in charge of spearheading the Firm's financial strategy, financial governance and the internal finance function, which mainly consists of cashflow management, setting up and implementing internal control mechanisms, financial policies, payroll, audits, expense management and financial reporting. Gilbert is also responsible to facilitate the automation of internal procedures and the client servicing process through technology, and innovative AI tools.
Experience
Gilbert graduated in Bachelor of Accountancy (Hons) in 2004 and was warranted as a certified public accountant and auditor in 2007. His professional career started with one of the Big Four accountancy firms with experience gained in advisory, due diligence, internal audit and external audits. During his 6 years, he had the opportunity for various overseas secondments during which he was involved on big projects in some of the notorious companies in Italy and on various projects on local clients upon his return to Malta from 2008.
In May 2009 Gilbert embarked on a different experience and joined the public sector as a Financial Controller, during which he was involved in various public sector projects, particularly in the health sector. In June 2016, here turned to the private sector and joined Chetcuti Cauchi Advocates as the Chief Finance Officer.
On a personal level, Gilbert is a very outgoing person, self motivated,considered as very rigorous, and at times perfectionist. Gilbert believes that success in the profession is achieved only through continuous self development,strong collaboration and solid teamwork of dedicated personnel heading to the same direction. Gilbert firmly believes in a healthy lifestyle and the ability to strike sufficient balance between the profession, leisure and personal commitments.
